Coworking spaces provide unique office solutions to entrepreneurs, offering perks that working in a solo office doesn’t. Having a space with high-tech solutions and advisors on-hand is a double perk.

Last week, Innovate Calgary opened the doors to ‘the Inc.’, a coworking space for Calgary startups in the technology sector that offers more than just desks and a coffee machine. As well a community environment that can hold up to 90 people, the Inc. provides access to business advisors to help entrepreneurs accelerate their venture success. Located within the Alastair Ross Technology Centre, in the University of Calgary’s Research Park, the Inc. offers numerous benefits to entrepreneurs (such as a connection to Cybera’s super fast network, as well as meeting rooms, parking passes, and access to advisors, mentors and resident entrepreneurs).

“The Inc. is a unique coworking space wrapped together with core programming that is essential to startup success,” said Steven McIlvenna, Director of Entrepreneur Development at Innovate Calgary in an article for Business in Calgary. “Besides being an affordable workspace for startup companies, each entrepreneur is receiving one on-one critical learning.”

Through its location within the University of Calgary, the incubator had the double benefit of being able to connect to CyberaNet, which means on-site entrepreneurs can access unlimited bandwidth. This will give innovators who need to move data-intensive files — such as video games or animation — the high-capacity bandwidth they need to get work done.
